CHARLESTON, WV – This morning, in a video message to supporters, West Virginia Delegate Moore Capito (R-Charleston) announced his campaign to serve as the next Governor of West Virginia.
In his video message, Capito highlighted his passion for what makes West Virginia great and outlined his positive, conservative vision for the state’s future. As Governor, his administration would:
Moore Capito is uniquely qualified to lead West Virginia forward. In 2016, voters first elected Capito to the West Virginia House of Delegates and overwhelmingly reelected him three more times. In 2020, as the leader of the West Virginia Republican Legislative Committee, Moore architected the first Republican supermajority in our state’s modern history.
Capito is a leader in promoting entrepreneurship and innovation in West Virginia. He authored job retraining legislation that allows high school graduates and those recovering from substance abuse increased access to job training skills for next generation jobs. And, as Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Capito is at the center of passing legislation that protects West Virginia’s values.
A devoted father to two young children, Capito earned his BA from Duke University and his law degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law.
